Module Description
The module provides further training on the translation of financial documents for students. Topics include the linguistic features, conventions and terminology of financial documents such as annual reports, memoranda and articles of association and financial statements of listed companies, writings on financial products such as warrants, callable bull/bear contracts, various types of funds and technical analysis, and the principles and techniques of translating these financial documents.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- identify the problems of translating English and Chinese financial documents;
- describe the principles and techniques of translating financial documents;
- translate promptly and accurately financial documents from English into Chinese and vice versa;
- evaluate and comment critically on the translations of financial documents.
