Module Description
The module aims to equip students with language and communication skills for translating documents on international issues, with reference to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs) in 6 categories, namely poverty, inequality, climate, environmental degradation, prosperity, as well as peace and justice. It also familiarises students with the essential knowledge of global sustainability through bilingual reading materials, glossaries and interactive translation exercises.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- explain key concepts related to the 17 Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs);
- understand common Chinese and English expressions and sentence patterns in the translation of writings about international issues;
- demonstrate translation skills applicable to relevant translation projects; and
- identify features of discourse on global sustainability.
