HSUHK Deepens Collaboration with Beijing International Studies University and Translators Association of China
The Hang Seng University of Hong Kong (HSUHK) has forged a strategic partnership by entering into a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU) with Beijing International Studies University (BISU) on 9 May 2024 at Beijing.
The HSUHK delegation to Beijing, led by Prof. Y V Hui, Provost and Vice-President (Academic and Research), Prof. Gilbert Fong, Dean of School of Translation and Foreign Languages, and Dr. Thomas Man, Associate Dean (Enterprise and Business Engagement) of School of Business, was warmly welcomed by BISU’s senior management, led by Prof. Cheng Wei, Vice President, Prof. Zheng Chengjun, Vice President (Academic, International), and Prof. Li Zhen, Deputy Chairperson of the University Council. After exchanging views and ideas, the two institutions officially signed an MOU.
Building upon the MOU and student exchange agreement signed in 2022 between HSUHK’s School of Translation and Foreign Languages and BISU’s School of Interpreting and Translation, School of English Language Literature and Culture, School of European Languages, and School of Asian Studies, the collaboration between HSUHK and BISU has now reached new heights with the establishment of a comprehensive university-level MOU. This joint effort exemplifies the shared commitment of both institutions to nurture the growth of the next generation of professional talents.
Further capitalising on this opportunity, Prof. Gilbert Fong also strengthened ties with the Translators Association of China (TAC) by paying a visit to TAC and the China Foreign Languages Publishing and Distribution Development Ministry Bureau (CICG). The School of Translation and Foreign Languages of HSUHK is a member of TAC.
