STRA Online Talk – How Can Translators and Language Professionals Use AI to Work Smarter?
Dr Siu Sai Cheong, Associate Professor and Programme Directors of Bachelor of Translation with Business and MA in Translation (Computer-Aided Translation) Programmes of the School of Translation, delivered online talks on 22 June 2020 and 6 July 2020, with the topic of “How Can Translators and Language Professionals Use AI to Work Smarter?”.
Dr Siu started the talk by providing the audience with an overview of various kinds of translation and language services, and later introduced the concepts of artificial intelligence and machine translation. He further elaborated how skills of pre-editing and post-editing improved the product of machine translation tools and how to identify texts generated by machine translation systems.
The audience also learned about modules of translation and language technology offered by the School of Translation and the state-of-the-art facilities which help students master the latest technology.
