Module Description
This module is designed to identify and study the variety of figures of speech commonly used in English and Chinese and to consider the effects of these devices on translation between the two languages.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
- analyse and describe the figures of speech that are commonly used in English and Chinese;
- apply their knowledge of comparative stylistics to the accurate translation of business texts between English and Chinese; and
- evaluate and comment critically on a translated business text using their knowledge of comparative stylistics.
