Module Description
The main objective of this module is to examine the concepts and practice of recruitment and selection. It is facilitated by a comprehensive understanding of strategic human resource planning and the nature of jobs as well as the processes involved in analysing jobs and realising suitable person-job and person-organisation matches. In addition, contemporary processes and methods as well as the legal aspects of recruitment and selection required by business organisations are addressed.
Learning Outcomes
Upon completion of this module, students should be able to:
  1. describe strategic human resource planning, analyse jobs and determine the organisational and job features that can best be matched by the characteristics of the applicants;
  2. explain recruitment process and methods suitable for organisations and individuals;
  3. identify and evaluate range of selection methods and measurements as well as ways of making decisions in selecting suitable applicants; and
  4. recognise and apply the legal aspects of recruitment and selection appropriately in the workplace.
