BTB Students Awarded in HSMC Innovation Project Competition 2017

A team named Translation Pioneers, formed by three BTB Year 3 students Cheung Man Yee, Li Shan and Cheung Po Yi, won a merit award in the Humanities Innovation category of the HSMC Innovation Project Competition 2017 organised by the Centre for Teaching and Learning (CTL). CTL organised this competition for the second year to promote innovation and create a culture of creativity within the College. The Awards Presentation Ceremony was held on 24 April 2017.

Transbot, the brainchild of the team, involved an innovative integration of existing computer-aided translation tools, such as electronic dictionaries, translation memories, machine translation, terminology databases and corpora. This would in turn enhance the efficiency and effectiveness of translation by reducing the time translators spend on searching, thus giving them a more thorough understanding of the source text.

We would like to extend our warmest congratulations to our awardees.
