Online talk on Interpreting in Hong Kong: An introduction to this mysterious profession

Dr Anson Wang, Assistant Professor of the School of Translation, hosted two online talks on “Interpreting in Hong Kong: An introduction to this mysterious profession” on 21 May and 5 June 2020.

Dr Wang started the talk by introducing the role of interpreters, and then went on to talk about the basic skills and capabilities needed, such as a solid language foundation and intercultural competence. Dr Wang also discussed the job prospects of interpreters in Hong Kong, mentioning that Official Languages Officers, Simultaneous Interpreters are in high demand in government sectors.

Dr Wang introduced the undergraduate and postgraduate programmes offered by the School of Translation, which helped the audience to understand themselves and plan their future.
